Template:Unreferenced stub Alecto (Ancient Greek: Ἀληκτώ, English translation: "the implacable or unceasing anger") is one of the Erinyes in Greek mythology. According to Hesiod, she was the daughter of Gaea fertilized by the blood spilled from Uranus when Cronus castrated him. She is the sister of Tisiphone and Megaera. Alecto is the Erinys with the job of castigating the moral crimes (such as anger), especially if they are against other people. Her function is very similar to Nemesis, with the difference that the latter's function is to castigate crimes against the gods. Alecto appeared in Virgil's Aeneid, and also in Dante's Inferno as one of the three Erinyes.

Alecto appears in the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series by Rick Riordan as Percy's (the protagonist of the series) mathematics teacher who, on an end of the year field trip, attacks Percy knowing he is a demigod. She also appears later in the book chasing Percy, his mother, and Grover (a satyr) to Camp Half-Blood (a summer camp for demigods to train for battles against monsters and such). In later Percy Jackson books she appears in almost every Underworld scene.

Alecto also makes an appearance in the WebMage novels, a Cyberpunk fantasy series written by Kelly McCullough. She plays a prominent role in the latest addition to the series, Spellcrash.
